Nestled in the western part of Slovenia, bordering Italy and the Friuli region, lies the picturesque wine-growing district of Goriška Brda — often referred to as “Slovenia’s Tuscany.”
This enchanting area is characterized by rolling hills, charming hilltop villages, and meticulously terraced vineyards. Medieval towns like Šmartno, renaissance castles such as Dobrova and Villa Vipolže, and both traditional and modern wine cellars make this boutique wine region a must-visit for wine lovers.
Our 3-day tour balances visits to world-class wineries with intimate cultural experiences, authentic gastronomy, and time to relax in elegant boutique accommodations.
Day 1 | Welcome to Goriska Brda
Welcome to Goriska Brda! Upon your arrival, a member of our team will greet you. After you’ve had a chance to settle into your accommodations, we’ll get acquainted and begin our wine tour.
Our first stop is a local wine cellar where we’ll enjoy some local tapas. Once we’re all relaxed, we’ll continue with a sightseeing tour, followed by the day’s second wine tasting. You’ll have time to enjoy your boutique accommodation among the vineyard before dinner.
Day 2 | Between traditional and modern
On our second day, we’ll journey between the past and present, visiting historical villages, traditional wine cellars, and ones that have embraced a more modern approach. Both the morning and afternoon will include sightseeing and a wine cellar visit where we’ll learn about the region’s wines
Renowned for producing wines of exceptional quality, the region most celebrated indigenous white grape is Rebula ( Ribolla Gialla). Together with classics like Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Sauvignonasse ( also known as Sauvignon Vert or Tocai Friulano), Pinot Grigio, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc, the winemakers consistently earn awards and international acclaim.
Before dinner, you’ll have plenty of time to explore on your own.
Day 3 | Immersive experience
By now, you’ll have experienced that beyond its outstanding wines, Goriska Brda offers a truly immersive experience. After checking out, we’ll continue our astronomic journey through Goriska Brda. We’ll visit local producers and treat our taste buds to traditional local dishes.
