Where Wine Meets Art
Château Mouton Rothschild is one of Bordeaux’s most celebrated estates, renowned for its First Growth Grand Vin, as well as its distinguished second wine, Le Petit Mouton, and its limited-production white wine, L’Aile d’Argent. Founded in 1853 by Baron Nathaniel de Rothschild, the estate revolutionized Bordeaux winemaking in the 1920s by pioneering château-bottling, a practice that was rare at the time. Originally classified as a Second Growth, Château Mouton Rothschild achieved its rightful First Growth status in 1973, following a historic campaign led by Baron Philippe de Rothschild—a testament to its exceptional quality and prestige.
At the heart of Mouton Rothschild’s identity is Cabernet Sauvignon, the dominant variety that defines its power, structure, and extraordinary aging potential. Complemented by Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, the blend results in a wine of remarkable depth, richness, and complexity. Cabernet Sauvignon provides firm tannins, aromatic intensity, and longevity, while Merlot adds suppleness, roundness, and elegance, creating a seamless balance that has captivated collectors and connoisseurs alike.
More than just a wine, Château Mouton Rothschild is also a celebration of art and culture. Since 1945, the estate has commissioned renowned artists—from Picasso to Chagall—to design its iconic labels, reinforcing its legacy as a symbol of artistry and innovation in the world of fine wine.
