Since 1954, Vazart-Coquart Estate has been producing elegant and rich champagnes. The terroir of Chouilly, Grand Cru of the Côte des Blancs, plays host to our 30 plots of vines. Chardonnay is the predominant grape variety on our 11 hectares of vines, supplemented by several hundred square metres where we also grow Pinot Noir.

Three generations have succeeded one another since our creation. Louis, Jacques and today Jean-Pierre have all contributed to the company’s development.

The birth of the Estate

At the start of the 1950s, Jacques Vazart convinced his father Louis and his brother René, who at the time owned and grew a certain amount of vines, to start producing champagne. The family thus started to invest in order to produce this divine nectar. In 1954, the first bottles were produced and started to attract the attention of wine lovers.

The development of the Vazart-Coquart brand

At that time, the champagne was sold under the brand “Louis Vazart”. Soon after, Louis and his wife Marie Coquart combined their surnames. This is how the “Vazart-Coquart” brand came into being, able to self-perpetuate over several generations. For a long time, their legacy was under the responsibility of Jacques. Today, it is in the hands of Jean-Pierre.

The 3rd generation

Jean-Pierre Vazart started to work alongside his father Jacques in 1991. They worked together to expand the company, develop quality, look after the vineyard and invest for the future. In 1995, Jean-Pierre officially took over the reins. Joined by his wife Caroline, they are assisted by an exceptional team.

Champagne Vazart-Coquart, established in the 19th century, produce only single cru champagnes from their 11-hectare estate in Champagne’s largest Grand Cru village, Chouilly. Being the Côte des Blancs, mainly Chardonnay is grown here, with just 4.5-hectares of Pinot Noir planted in the whole village. Only a handful of independent growers in the region can boast ownership of a Pinot Noir plot in Chouilly: and Vazart-Coquart are one of them. Vazart-Coquart were just the third producer to be awarded the highest level of environmental certification in 2012.

‘82/17’ BLANC DE BLANCS

GRAND CRU EXTRA BRUT, NV

The name ‘82/17’ hints at the essence of this Champagne. In 1982, when Jean-Pierre Vazart took over the domaine, he began a ‘Réserve Perpétuelle’—a continuous solera-style system—by filling a tank with Chardonnay from Chouilly’s Grand Cru vineyards. Each year, 40% was removed and replaced with the same proportion from the next vintage. Over time, this evolved into a living archive of the estate’s winemaking, now spanning 35 vintages from 1982 to 2017.

Disgorged with a low dosage of 1 g/L, ‘82/17’ reflects both depth and precision. Its golden hue and fine, lively perlage set the stage for an elegant and layered aromatic profile. The nose is unusually soft and refined, shaped by vinification that retained malic acid, avoiding lactic conversion. This silkiness carries warm buttered brioche, almond cream, vanilla, and orange blossom, alongside citrus tones of yuzu, cédrat, and lemon curd, with hints of herbs, stone, and foliage.

On the palate, the presence of the réserve wine is unmistakable, lending richness and texture. Bright citrus and taut freshness weave through layers of pastry, white chocolate, nougat, and a touch of mocha. The balance is impeccable—silky yet vibrant, with acidity that brings both freshness and drive. Deeply mineral and seamlessly composed, ‘82/17’ is as distinctive as it is accomplished.
